My Lip Filler Experience

Oh, hey there! Guess what? I've taken the plunge and dabbled in the world of lip fillers not once, but twice! The first time was about a year ago, and boy, let me tell you, it was quite the adventure! Now, I must confess, I was already blessed with luscious lips, but I couldn't resist the allure of those crisp, defined lip borders that temporary fillers could provide. So, armed with a 0.5 ml syringe, I bravely embarked on my lip-enhancing journey.

My injector was just starting to offer lip fillers, and I happily volunteered as one of her first clients. Now, I won't sugarcoat it—there was some pain involved. We applied topical numbing cream for a good 15-20 minutes, but when that needle pricked my lips for the first time, it was an indescribable sensation, to say the least. I must've squeezed that stress ball with all my might, all while trying to maintain my composure through the process. Thankfully, the pain subsided after a few minutes, and I got through it like a champ. The whole treatment took a little over an hour, but it was totally worth it!

When I caught my first glimpse of my enhanced pout, I was in awe. My upper lip border looked more defined, and although I didn't add much volume to my already plump lips (remember, I only went for 0.5 ml), the subtle change made a noticeable difference.

Once the numbing cream wore off, my lips felt tender—a solid 6-7 out of 10 on the pain scale. Mind you, I'm a wimp when it comes to pain. I still brace myself when getting an IV or an IM vaccine, so I totally get it. But hey, being a Nurse Practitioner, I've been on both sides of the needle, which makes me extra empathetic toward my clients. The tenderness subsided within a couple of hours, but my lips felt a bit "funny" afterward—kind of like I had something delightful tucked away in them. I was able to eat and brush my teeth without any issues. I just had to remember not to use a straw.

Now, let's talk about day two—it was a sight to behold! I looked like I was having some wild allergic reaction, but fear not, my lips were just in full "swole" mode (yeah, that's a technical term). Surprisingly, my spouse didn't even notice the transformation. I guess my naturally big lips provided some camouflage. By day six or seven, the swelling had calmed down significantly, and the borders of my lips looked absolutely fab. In just two weeks, I was rocking my newly defined pout with confidence. It was like lip gloss had a whole new meaning in my life. In conclusion, let me assure you that everyone's lip filler experience can be as unique as a fingerprint—pain tolerance, after all, varies from person to person. As a Nurse Practitioner who has seen both sides of the needle, I can confidently say that the first couple of times can be an emotional roller coaster. Trust me, I had my fair share of "What the heck did I do?!" moments when I saw my lips after the full 1 ml syringe (remember, my lips were already on the plump side).

Day two had me feeling a bit self-conscious, thinking, "Oh no, everyone will notice!" But guess what? About a week later, I fell head over heels for my fabulous new lips! It's all part of the emotional healing process, my friends.
